Summer has officially started…Do you know where to go to keep cool?
Next Apartment knows staying indoors with the air conditioning blasting is no fun! So, we've got some cool ideas on where you can go to beat the heat this summer in your community.
Cooling down at your local splash pad is great fun for kids and kids at heart! Aurora has three splash pads throughout the city that spray and splash water on a timer through fun nozzles, jets, and toppling buckets. There is no standing water, which means there is no need for a lifeguard; however, parent supervision is required.
When the weather warms up, cool down at the pool! In Sault Ste Marie, there are 2 outdoor pools that offer free swimming during the summer months. If you don't have an outdoor pool near you, head to a community centre or your local YMCA and swim indoors. There are several indoor pools in Aurora which are perfect for leisure swimming, swimming lessons, or aqua-fit programs.
Let's not forget about the beach! Heading to the beach is the perfect cure for those hot summer days. In Sault Ste Marie, residents of our buildings will find Pointe des Chênes beach, just 25 minutes away. This beautiful sandy beach along Lake Superior is great for swimming, wind surfing, and even camping. For residents of our Millwell Properties in Aurora, the Woodbine Beach in Toronto is about an hour away making it a great day trip destination.
And finally, what's a hot summer day without ice cream? Find an ice cream shop in your community and enjoy a nice cold treat! In fact, Chocolats Favoris in Aurora serves traditional ice cream dipped in 25 different flavours of liquid chocolate and Big Moose Ice Cream Parlour in Sault Ste Marie serves over 60 different ice cream flavours!
