Aurora Residents: Discover Sheppard's Bush Conservation Area

Getting into nature and enjoying some quality time under the sun is easy for our Aurora residents!

Sheppard's Bush Conservation area is a 65 acre natural landscape centrally located in the city, and just a quick four minute drive or 20 minute walk from Millwell Properties.

If you're new to Aurora or have yet to discover the crown jewel of the city, let Next Apartment guide you through all the amazing features of this park.

When looking for a great family place to hike, walk, or cycle, Sheppard's Bush Conservation area is the perfect spot in Aurora! The forested areas are perfect for hiking. If you're quiet enough, you may even spot a white-tailed deer, owls, woodpeckers, and other wildlife. Take a walk or ride your bike alongside the ravine on the hard-packed nature trails, or jog through the fitness circuit and use the outdoor aerobic machines to get some extra exercise.

The vast green space here is great for family gatherings, with benches and picnic tables located under a pavilion for shelter from the sun. Play a game of catch, toss a frisbee around, or simply enjoy the day under the sun. Soccer is big here too, as there are 13 soccer fields of various sizes for leisure and organized league use.

Explore the history of the sugar bush that was once filled with taps and buckets, tours and delicious pancake feasts. Today, you can explore the property on your own, view the buildings remaining including the maple syrup evaporator hut, and even book the sugar shack pavilion for private functions. Other heritage buildings here include the Sheppard House, which is home to Aurora's former mayor and the historic log cabin.

North of the Sheppard House is a wonderful community garden filled with 18 plots ready for members of the community to use. Here you can grow your own vegetables and fruits to eat and enjoy. This historic community garden pays tribute to Mayor Charles Henry Sheppard, who originally had gardens on the property.
